Dr. Timothy N. Lambert (Tim) is the Energy Storage Materials Thrust Lead in Sandia National Laboratories’ Grid Energy Storage Program and a Distinguished R&D staff scientist in the Department of Photovoltaics & Materials Technology at Sandia National Laboratories, where he engages in basic and applied research. While formally trained in synthetic organic, bioorganic and supramolecular chemistry, his current research efforts include developing new electrocatalysts and in developing chemistries, electrodes, separators and components for lithium-ion and low-cost grid storage batteries. He has co-authored over 110 peer-reviewed papers and is co-inventor on nine issued patents with several more pending. He received a B.S. in Chemistry from University of Texas at Austin in 1996, a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from New Mexico State University in 2001 and was a Postdoctoral Researcher and then Visiting Scientist at the University of Notre Dame/Walther Cancer Research Center prior to joining Sandia in 2003. He is an Affiliate member of the Department of Energy-Basic Energy Sciences Center for integrated Nanotechnologies and a member of the National Alliance for Advanced Transportation Battery Cell Manufacture Zinc Battery committee. He maintains memberships with the American Chemical Society, Materials Research Society, the Electrochemical Society. In his free time, he can be found hiking, riding motorcycles or brewing beer.
